The West Ham United Women’s Pathway is designed to create an environment which will allow young girls aged 8-16 across Essex and east London to develop their football skills to the best of their ability while also helping nurture their interpersonal skills off the pitch.
The Women’s Academy is the top tier of the pathway with players being selected each season to represent the club in the Junior Premier League and Brentwood County Youth League. Every member of the Academy is placed on the journey to becoming the best player they can be. Players following reaching 16 the girls are progressed to the Under 18’s in the WSL Academy system.
The Academy operates with a structured playing philosophy and individual player development plans being implemented. The academy provides workshops for both players and parents on topics such as health and nutrition, strength and conditioning and match analysis.
The clubs vision is to produce home-grown players for the first team through the Academy Pathway.
Our Performance Academy acts as a direct feeder into the Academy, this is achieved by the implementation of the core values, playing philosophy and high level training sessions. Each player is provided with an Individual Development Plan to aide their growth on and off the pitch.
The player pathway has multiple tiers to enable girls of all abilities to join and progress to the next level of their development. This pathway is fluid to allow for players to move from tier to tier when appropriate for their personal development.
