Bruno Saltor

Bruno | Assistant Coach

Born: 1 October 1980, El Masnou, Spain

Spaniard Bruno was appointed to Head Coach Graham Potter’s backroom staff having previously worked with him at Brighton & Hove Albion and Chelsea.

The El Masnou native began his impressive professional playing career at Espanyol around the turn of the 21st century, after graduating through the club’s academy ranks.

Following a loan spell at Gimnàstic, and his subsequent departure from Espanyol, Bruno made over 100 appearances apiece for Lleida and Almería before spending three years at Valencia, where he featured in the UEFA Champions League.

A switch to Brighton in summer 2012, who were then an EFL Championship side, kickstarted seven productive years as a player on the English south coast, and his 42 appearances as captain, while in his mid-30s, helped inspire promotion to the Premier League in 2016/17.

With 39 top-flight appearances to his name, and over 230 for the Seagulls in total, the former defender announced his retirement in May 2019, and in the wake of Potter’s unveiling as Brighton manager was appointed to the position of senior player development coach at the club a month later.

Three years on, Bruno joined Potter as an assistant at Chelsea, and duly took caretaker charge of the Blues for one match - a goalless draw against Liverpool - following the latter’s departure, before leaving himself in September 2023.
