Billy Reid

Billy Reid | First-Team Coach

Born: 18 July 1963, Glasgow, Scotland

Scotsman Billy Reid has worked with Graham Potter since being appointed as his assistant manager at Östersund in 2013.

Reid was Potter’s right-hand man as the Swedish club won promotion to the top-flight Allsvenskan in 2015, won the Svenska Cupen in 2017 and reached the latter stages of the 2017/18 UEFA Europa League.

The Glaswegian joined Potter at Swansea City in 2018, at Brighton & Hove Albion in 2019 and Chelsea in 2022, and is now working with his long-time colleague at a fifth club in West Ham United.

Prior to joining forces with Potter, Reid enjoyed a decade-long playing career in his home country, playing around 400 games for Queen of the South, Clyde, Hamilton Academical and Stirling Albion.

Reid’s coaching career began at Clyde in the early 2000s, then developed during eight years in charge at Hamilton, who he took to the Scottish Premier League in 2007/08 and won PFA Scotland Manager of the Year award.

After 390 matches as a manager, he joined forces with Potter at Östersund, where they famously introduced a ‘culture academy’ to help their players and staff develop and bond using performing arts.

The pair had originally met in 2010 at the 40th birthday party of Graeme Jones, who himself played alongside Potter at Boston United and under Reid’s management at Clyde and Hamilton.
