France international striker Viviane Asseyi joined West Ham United in August 2022.

An experienced forward, Asseyi scored over 100 goals in French football, reaching the domestic cup final on no fewer than four occasions with Montpellier, before hitting the net regularly for Marseille and Bordeaux. After two seasons in Germany with Bayern Munich, Asseyi moved to English football with the Hammers.

The Normandy-born player has earned over 60 caps for France, travelling to three major international tournaments.

Before West Ham

Born in the town of Mont-Saint-Aignan in Normandy, France, on 20 November 1993…Spent eight years with US Quevilly-Rouen Métropole as a schoolgirl…Joined FC Rouen in 2008, aged just 14, and scored 23 goals in 28 appearances between 2008-10…Moved south to Montpellier and spent six years with La Paillade, making 158 appearances and scoring 55 goals in all competitions...Made her UEFA Women’s Champions League debut for Montpellier against Swedish club Umeå in March 2010…Reached the French domestic cup final in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016, but finished as a runner-up on all five occasions…Joined Marseille in summer 2016 and scored 13 goals across two Première Ligue seasons…Continued her prolific form with Bordeaux, netting 24 goals in 38 Première Ligue matches across two seasons between 2018-20…Moved to German club Bayern Munich in 2020 and spent two seasons there, scoring 17 goals in 53 appearances in all competitions and winning the Bundesliga title in 2020/21…Made her senior France debut in a 1-0 friendly win over Norway on 29 June 2013…Part of France’s squad at the 2013 UEFA Women’s European Championship finals, but did not play…Scored her first goal for France in a 1-0 friendly win over Chile on 15 September 2017…Appeared three times for France at the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in her home country, in the group-stage win over Nigeria, round of 16 victory over Brazil and quarter-final defeat by the United States…Appeared twice for France at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup finals in Australia/New Zealand, in the group-stage wins over Morocco and Panama.
