Experienced Scotland international defender Kirsty Smith joined West Ham United from Manchester United on 15 July 2022.

Born in Dalkeith in Midlothian, Smith started her career with Scottish Women’s Premier League club Hibernian, with whom she lifted five domestic cups between 2016-18, before winning the FA Women’s Championship with Manchester United in 2018/19.

A senior Scotland international since 2014, Smith has represented her country at two major tournaments, including their first-ever appearance at the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2019.

2023/24

Scored her first goal for West Ham United in a 2-0 WSL win at Brighton & Hove Albion on 8 October 2023…Missed her first West Ham match when she was an unused substitute in a 3-1 FA Women’s League Cup group-stage defeat at Brighton & Hove Albion on 22 November 2023, ending a run of 37 consecutive appearances since signing in July 2022…Was an ever-present in the WSL for the second consecutive season. starting all 22 fixtures and missing just 22 minutes of action when substituted during the 2-0 win at Brighton & Hove Albion in October 2023...Totaled 25 appearances in all competitions, including two in the FA Women’s League Cup group-stage and the Women's FA Cup fourth-round defeat by Arsenal...Appeared in four UEFA Women's Euro 2025 qualifying ties for Scotland as they made an unbeaten start to Group B2 ahead of Serbia, Slovakia and Israel in April-June 2024, taking her past the 50-cap mark for her country.
