On This Day: Dean Ashton goal secures away win at Blackburn

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

Dean Ashton earned West Ham United an impressive away victory at Blackburn Rovers and three Premier League points on this day in 2007.

Ashton tapped in from close range after George McCartney's cross to settle the game in favour of Alan Curbishley's Hammers.

Rovers goalkeeper Brad Friedel kept out a Luis Boa Morte strike to keep his side in the game as Roque Santa Cruz headed wide and blazed high at the other end.

Ashton could have sealed it late on only to shoot too high but the visitors held on, despite Tugay's stinging shot being saved by Robert Green.
