On This Day: Frank McAvennie shoots down Swindon

Taking a look back at a classic West Ham United moment on this day in history, in association with RoadX Tyres...

Frank McAvennie climbed off the substitutes' bench to score West Ham United's winner at Swindon Town on this day 30 years ago.

It was 20 October 1990 when Billy Bonds' Hammers visited the County Ground seeking to maintain their promotion challenge in Division One, but it was the Robins who created the best chances before half-time.

West Ham had a goal of their own disallowed in the second half, before Scotland striker McAvennie replaced Jimmy Quinn and scored the only goal of the game 15 minutes from the end.

Watch his cool finish again here!
