A two-minute double salvo saw Japan beat Brazil 2-0 in their final friendly fixture of the international break.
Risa Shimizu, Honoka Hayashi and Riko Ueki all featured as Nadeshiko came out on top against Seleção at Estádio do Morumbi on Sunday afternoon.
Shimizu and Hayashi started the contest in São Paulo and saw their side race into an early lead. Moeka Minami opened the scoring in the 17th minute as her shot from inside the penalty area found its way into the back of the net via a deflection from a Brazilian defender.
Mina Tanaka added the second two minutes later after a counter-attack, finding the net from distance.
Brazil looked for a way back into the game and dominated possession in front of a 13,000 strong crowd. However, they couldn’t find a route through a stern Japanese defence.
Hayashi was replaced at half time by former Hammer, Yui Hasegawa, whilst Ueki was introduced with just under 20 minutes remaining, replacing goalscorer Tanaka. Shimizu, meanwhile, played the full 90 minutes.
This was the second meeting between the two sides during this international break, with Brazil coming out 4-3 winners in an enthralling match on Friday 1 December.
The trio will now return to east London as West Ham United women's team prepare to face Everton on Sunday 10 December! Tickets are priced from just £13 for Adults and £5 for Juniors, and are available to purchase by clicking here!
