West Ham v Brighton & Hove Albion

Women's team to face Liverpool in Conti Cup quarter final

Having finished top of Group C in the Continental Tyres League Cup, West Ham United Women have earned a quarter-final tie against Liverpool.

Paul Konchesky's Hammers faced tricky fixtures against Championship sides London City Lionesses and Birmingham City, before rounding off the group stage against fellow top-flight outfit Brighton & Hove Albion.

After fighting back from two goals down in their opening game to draw against London City, the Irons earned an extra point by winning a penalty shootout, before following that result up with a comfortable 2-0 win over Birmingham City at Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Then, on Wednesday (18 January) evening, a 0-0 draw with the Seagulls was enough to see the team advance to the last eight.

Having amassed six points in total, a third consecutive appearance in the quarter-finals will see the Irons travel away at Prenton Park on Wednesday 25 January 2023.

Kick-off is scheduled for 7:30pm (GMT) in Birkenhead, whilst the game will also be streamed live on the FA Player. Ticketing details for the clash will be communicated as soon as they become available.

The fixture slots into a busy schedule for Konchesky's side, who will now travel to Merseyside twice in the space of three days - with Everton their next WSL opponent on Sunday 22 January.

After a long period on the road, West Ham United Women will be back at Chigwell Construction Stadium on Sunday 5 February, when they welcome Arsenal to east London.
