Women's Loan Watch: Talbert and Houssein in action over the weekend

Two West Ham United women's team players out on loan were in action over the weekend...

Katelin Talbert helped Djurgårdens IF to a 1-1 draw with IFK Norrköping on Friday evening.

The 25-year-old goalkeeper played the full 90 minutes as the Stockholm-based outfit came back from a goal down to draw at the Olympic Stadium.

Norrköping’s Vilma Koivisto had opened the scoring just before half time, but Lova Lundin equalised with ten minutes to play in the second half to make sure that the points were shared in the capital.

Djurgårdens are in Svenska Cupen action on Wendesday when they face Sollentuna FK in the third round of the competition.

Halle Houssein

Back in England, Halle Houssein featured for Reading in a disappointing 3-1 defeat to Sunderland on Sunday.

The 18-year-old midfielder was involved from the start in the Barclays Women’s Championship clash at Eppleton Colliery Football Ground, as the Royals’ Sanne Troelsgaard hit the woodwork twice before they fell behind after Ellen Jones found the net for the hosts just before half time.

In the second half, Elizabeta Ejupi doubled their lead on 51 minutes after Reading failed to clear their lines from a corner, before Katie Kitching put them further in command just after the hour mark with a strong run and finish.

Freya Gregory was able to pull one back before the full-time whistle sounded as Liam Gilbert’s team slipped to their second league defeat of the season.

Next weekend, the Royals welcome Sheffield United to the Madejski Stadium as Houssein and her teammates look to get back to winning ways.
