Four of West Ham United women’s team’s loanees were in action for their respective temporary clubs at the weekend.
Defender Jessie Stapleton returned to Sunderland’s starting XI to help the Lasses keep a clean sheet in a 1-0 victory at Sheffield United in the Barclays Women’s Championship on Sunday.
The West Ham loanee missed Sunderland’s previous match through suspension, but starred in her return to action as Eleanor Dale struck an 85th-minute winner to move the visitors up to fifth in the standings - three points off top-of-the-table Birmingham City.
Also on loan at Sunderland from the Irons, Keira Flannery was an unused substitute at Bramall Lane in the Black Cats’ fifth victory of the campaign.
Elsewhere in the division, Princess Ademiluyi played all of Charlton Athletic’s match against Bristol City at the Valley, as the Addicks fell to a 2-1 loss.
After Lexi Lloyd-Smith put the away side ahead early on, the forward came close to levelling the match in the eleventh minute, but her effort was tipped over the bar by visiting shot-stopper Fran Bentley.
Libby Bounce put third-placed Bristol City two goals ahead moments later, and despite Jodie Hutton halving the deficit four minutes before the break, Charlton were defeated, leaving them eighth in the table.
Meanwhile, Shekiera Martinez and SC Freiburg enjoyed a 1-0 success at home to SGS Essen on Friday night.
Tessa Blumenberg put the hosts ahead on 78 minutes in the Frauen-Bundesliga clash, and Hammers loanee Martinez was substituted off with two minutes of the contest remaining, having helped her side to their fifth win of the campaign.
Elsewhere, in Italy, Inès Belloumou played 64 minutes of Lazio’s match at Roma, which saw the home side clinch a 2-1 victory.
Lucia Di Guglielmo put fourth-placed Roma ahead moments before Belloumou was withdrawn. The hosts then doubled their lead before a Roma own-goal proved only to be a consolation for Lazio, who sit seventh in Serie A.
Back in England, Marnie Morrison, who joined Hashtag United on dual-registration terms on Friday, was an unused substitute for the Tags in their 2-0 loss at home to Watford in the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division.
And Katelin Talbert was not in Tottenham Hotspur’s matchday squad that lost 3-0 at home to north London rivals Arsenal in the Barclays Women’s Super League on Saturday.
