Six of West Ham United women’s team’s loanees were in action for their respective temporary clubs at the weekend.
Defender Marnie Morrison made her debut for Hashtag United on Sunday in their Adobe Women’s FA Cup second round clash at home to Ipswich Town.
The 19-year-old, who put pen to paper with the Hammers as part of the Professional Game Academy (PGA) programme in the summer, joined the Tags on dual-registration terms earlier this month and made her first start for her new side against the Tractor Girls.
It looked like Morrison was going to get off to a winning start with Hashtag as they were 2-1 to the good as the clock ticked past 90, but in the fifth minute of second half stoppage time, the visitors snatched an equaliser.
With the momentum on their side, Ipswich won the tie 4-1 on penalties to knock the Tags out of the competition.
Meanwhile, in Italy, Inès Belloumou helped Lazio pick up their first league point in four matches with a goalless draw at home to bottom-of-the-table Sampdoria on Saturday.
The left-back, who joined the Hammers in the summer, played just over an hour for the Serie A outfit at the weekend, marking her third consecutive start for Lazio, and her performance earned her a spot in Serie A's Team of the Week.
Shekiera Martinez also gained some more valuable game time for SC Freiburg, playing all of their Frauen-Bundesliga clash at home to third-placed Bayern Munich on Sunday.
Sixth-placed Freiburg were unfortunately dealt a 2-1 loss as an own-goal from Meret Felde and Lea Schüller’s strike proved to be enough for the away side to take the three points, despite Cora Zicai halving the deficit on the hour mark.
Like their parent Club, a number of West Ham loanees were in Women’s League Cup action at the weekend.
Duo Jessie Stapleton and Keira Flannery started for Sunderland in their Group B fixture at home to Blackburn Rovers, which saw the visitors run out 3-1 winners.
Katie Kitchen drew the Black Cats level on the hour after Eleanor Hack’s first-half opener, but a brace from Maria Edwards secured Rovers the three points, moving them up to second and above Sunderland in the standings on goal difference.
Charlton Athletic were also on the losing side in their Group E match-up at Crystal Palace, in which Princess Ademiluyi was introduced from the bench late in the second half. But with the Addicks already 2-0 down after goals from Ashleigh Weerden and Mille Gejl, the contest was already wrapped up by the time the 18-year-old entered the field.
Elsewhere in Group E, Katelin Talbert was an unused substitute in Tottenham Hotspur’s 1-0 victory over visiting Aston Villa, which saw them rise to the summit of the table as Charlton sit bottom without a point.
