Women's Loan Watch: Houssein helps Reading to second successive victory

There was mixed success for West Ham United women's team players that are out on loan over the weekend.

Beginning in the Barclays Women's Championship, Halle Houssein helped Reading to a 1-0 win over Lewes at the Madjeski Stadium on Sunday, their second win in as many matches.

The 18-year-old midfielder was making her fourth consecutive start for the Royals since joining the Club on loan, and featured up until the 73rd minute in the clash, where she was replaced by Wales international Charlie Estcourt.

Tia Primmer would back the only goal of the game six minute later, as the young midfielder showed great instinct to react and slot a contested ball into the goal to secure the win.

West Ham fan Houssein will hope to be in action on Wednesday evening, as Reading take on Tottenham Hotspur in their first Continental Tyres League Cup group stage match.

Elsewhere, on Friday, Katelin Talbert helped Djurgårdens IF to a 2-2 draw against Rosengård in Damallsvenskan action on Friday evening.

The American goalkeeper conceded in the opening 10 minutes of the contest at Malmö Idrottsplats, but Djurgårdens managed to get themselves ahead with a quickfire salvo, with Stinalisa Johansson and Tove Almqvist scoring on 27 and 30 minutes respectively.

However, it would be late heartbreak for the away side, with Sanna Kullberg invertedly put the ball into her own net to share the spoils.

Macey Nicholls played 45 minutes for Hashtag United as they slipped to their first defeat of the season in all competitions on Sunday, losing 2-1 to MK Dons at Parkside in the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division.

Grace Gillard scored from the spot for the Tags after eleven minutes, but the Dons rallied before half time, finding the back of the net through Emily Wilson’s bullet header.

Nicholl’s was withdrawn as Hashtag looked to gain control, but they were undone when Laura Mitchell’s strike found the top corner on 52 minutes, a goal that would ultimately win the game for the away side and bring an end to the Tags’ winning run.

Finally, Katie O’Hanlon and Soraya Walsh were involved in a heavy 7-0 defeat to Portsmouth in FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division action on Sunday.

An extremely disappointing afternoon in Hampshire saw a clinical Portsmouth side punish mistakes that were made. O’Hanlon played the full 90 minutes, whilst Walsh was given a five-minute cameo by manager James Gibson.

Billericay will face Hashtag United on Wednesday evening as they look to bounce back from the big defeat.
