Halle Houssein

Women's Loan Watch | Halle Houssein scores as four Hammers feature across weekend

Four of West Ham United women’s team’s loanees were in action for their respective temporary clubs at the weekend...

Halle Houssein continued her fine run of goalscoring form by netting her second goal for Beylerbeyi in their 3-1 Turkish Super Lig Women victory over Trabzonspor on Thursday.

The 20-year-old scored her side’s second goal of the evening after Zenatha Coleman had earlier opened the scoring.

The hosts looked to be heading into half-time with at least a two-goal lead, only for Kaltrina Biqkaj to halve the deficit before half-time. However, Kennya Cordner restored her side's two-goal advantage shortly after the restart, and, after Fatlinda Ramaj was shown a red card, Houssein’s side held their composure throughout the second period, seeing out a comfortable victory.

The victory leaves Beylerbeyi sitting seventh in the Super Lig Women standings, with six matchweeks remaining.

Elsewhere, Ruby Doe played the full 90 minutes for Ipswich Town as her side took another step towards the FA Women's National League Southern Premier Division title with a 2-0 victory at home to ninth-place Gwalia United on Sunday.

The Tractor Girls opened the scoring after 33 minutes, courtesy of Natasha Thomas, who rose highest to head former Hammer Grace Garrad’s curling free-kick home into the far corner.

Thomas then scored her second after 59 minutes when Garrad’s free-kick from the right was headed back across goal by Megan Wearing into the path of the striker, who stabbed home from close range.

Ipswich are three points clear at the top of the able with a game in hand over Ellie Moore’s Hashtag United Women, who did not play on the weekend.

Jessie Stapleton

Meanwhile, Jessie Stapleton played another 90 minutes for Sunderland, who fell to a 4-3 defeat at home to third-place Charlton Athletic on Sunday, while Keira Flannery was an unused substitute.

The Lasses found themselves 4-0 down at half-time, with Ellie Brazil and Jodie Hutton both scoring first-half braces for the south Londoners.

However, Mel Reay’s side fought back to 4-3 in the second half, with Natasha Fenton, Mary McAteer and Ellen Jones all getting on the scoresheet, but it was too little, too late at Eppleton Colliery Welfare Ground in Hetton-le-Hole.

In Sweden, Inès Belloumou played 71 minutes of Malmö FF’s 2-0 home defeat to IFK Norrköping, as goals in either half from Vesna Milivojević condemned the hosts to their first league defeat of the season, having defeated BK Häcken 3-2 in their season opener last weekend.

In the Barclays Women’s Super League, goalkeeper Katelin Talbert was an unused substitute in Aston Villa’s 2-1 victory at Liverpool.

A second-half penalty from Marie Höbinger put the Reds ahead, but Kirsty Hanson made an instant impact from the substitutes’ bench as she levelled after 68 minutes.

Then, as the game appeared to be heading for a draw, Ebony Salmon forced an own-goal from Jenna Clark in the dying embers to secure Villa’s first league win of the calendar year.
