Women’s Loan Watch | Ademiluyi features in Charlton win as Hammers star at home and abroad

Four West Ham United women’s team stars shone on loan at their temporary clubs during a busy weekend at home and across the continent.

Young forward Princess Ademiluyi helped Charlton Athletic maintain their strong start to the fresh Barclays Women’s Championship season on Sunday, with a 2-1 win at home to Durham stretching their perfect record and cementing their place at the top of the second-tier ranks.

Ademiluyi - who has made 17 appearances for West Ham and joined the Addicks on a season-long loan in July - had come on as a substitute in Charlton’s previous two Championship clashes, and the 18-year-old was similarly called upon from the bench late on here.

Two goals from Katie Bradley within the final eight minutes - the first from the penalty spot - cancelled out Lily Crosthwaite’s opener for Durham, securing the points for the home side at The Valley.

One division higher, on the opening weekend of the Barclays Women’s Super League, goalkeeper Katelin Talbert was an unused substitute for Tottenham Hotspur during their empathic 4-0 triumph over newly-promoted Crystal Palace.

Hayley Raso, Jessica Naz, Drew Spence and Olga Ahtinen got the goals at Gaughan Group Stadium on Sunday for Spurs, who currently sit joint-top and next take on Aston Villa away from home next weeekend.

Elsewhere, Shekiera Martinez built on her goalscoring form against Hoffenheim last time out by playing her part in SC Freiburg’s 1-1 home draw against Carl Zeiss Jena on Saturday.

The 23-year-old was introduced to the contest at half-time, with the visitors 1-0 up, and Selina Vobian notched the all-important equaliser just before the hour mark to seal a share of the spoils, and send Freiburg into sixth in the Frauen-Bundesliga.

Finally, Inès Belloumou played the final eight minutes of Lazio’s narrow 2-1 home defeat to Juventus on Saturday.

A late goal from Sofia Cantore settled the win for Juve, after earlier strikes from Eva Schatzer and Lazio’s Eleonora Goldoni, leaving Belloumou’s loan side seventh in the Serie A table.
