West Ham United women’s team v Paris Saint-Germain
Perth International Football Cup, HBF Park, Thursday 29 August 2024, 6.15pm AWST
West Ham United women’s team are set to get their Perth International Football Cup campaign underway with a mouth-watering clash against French heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain at HBF Park on Thursday.
Rehanne Skinner’s Hammers are approximately 9,000 miles from home on their first tour abroad, stepping up their pre-season preparations ahead of the 2024/25 Barclays WSL campaign.
Having arrived Down Under on Sunday evening, and got stuck into training and engaged in a number of on and off-field activations, the team are now ready to take to the pitch, with last season’s Division 1 Féminine runners-up first up.
Following this PSG clash, West Ham will take on one of Manchester City or Leicester City, in either the Perth International Football Cup final or third-place play-off. Both games will go straight to a penalty shootout if the scores are level after 90 minutes, in order to determine a winner.

Team News…
Each member of Skinner’s squad will be itching for gametime in the side’s first pre-season friendly in front of fans.
Three of the Hammers’ summer signings could be involved, with goalkeeper Kinga Szemik and Camila Sáez vying for their first appearances in Claret and Blue, and Shelina Zadorsky eager to get her first minutes since signing for the Club permanently.
Australia international Katrina Gorry and Japan forward Riko Ueki linked up with the squad at the start of the tour after featuring for their countries at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games, and could also be called upon.
Opposition…
Paris Saint-Germain were founded in 1971, and have competed in the French top-flight since 2001. Nicknamed Les Parisiennes, they claimed their first major honour, the Coupe de France, in 2010, a title they have since won on three further occasions, including in 2023/24.
A first Division 1 Féminine crown was achieved in 2020/21, while they have also finished as beaten UEFA Women’s Champions League finalists twice, in 2014/15 and 2016/17.
PSG finished second in the regular league standings last season, and were beaten by Lyon in the subsequent play-off final.
They similarly fell to Lyon in the semi-finals of the Champions League over two legs, shortly before they saw off Fleury 1-0 in the Coupe de France showpiece in Montpellier.
The arrival of England superstar goalkeeper Mary Earps in the French capital earlier this summer cast PSG into the British press headlines, while West Ham also have links to the side, with former defender Hawa Cissoko having started her professional career at the Stade Jean-Bouin.
Previous Meetings…
West Ham United women’s team have never met Paris Saint-Germain previously, and had never toured abroad before setting off for Western Australia at the weekend.
The Hammers’ men’s side were previously in Perth during their four-match Centenary Tour Down Under in 1995, and the Unmissable Football Tour last summer, when they beat both Perth Glory and Tottenham Hotspur.
