Matchday Activations…

The fixture against Leicester City falls on Remembrance Sunday.

Remembrance Day is an opportunity to remember the service and sacrifice of all those that have defended our freedoms and protected our way of life. We remember the Armed Forces, and their families, from Britain and the Commonwealth, the vital role played by the emergency services and those who have lost their lives as a result of conflict or terrorism.

A minute's silence will be held and The Last Post sounded ahead of kick-off at Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Opposition...

Leicester City Women, who finished third from bottom in the WSL standings last term, will be looking to bounce back from their 1-0 loss at Brighton last weekend.

Nikita Parris’ 20th-minute header was the difference between the two sides at Broadfield Stadium, leaving the Foxes eighth in the table with one victory from their first six matches.

Although wins were hard to come by in the league last season, Leicester enjoyed a successful Women’s FA Cup campaign as they reached the semi-finals of the competition.

This term, however, they are under different management with the appointment of Amandine Miquel in the summer.

The 40-year-old spent seven years in charge of French Première Ligue side Reims - where she ended a 30-year wait for top-flight football at the club, winning promotion in 2019.

Having started her managerial career at Bergerac Périgord and then Chamois Niortais, the former Chelsea youth player also took Reims to three Coupe de France quarter-finals in the space of five seasons.

Alongside the former Reims boss, six new players arrived at the King Power Stadium over the summer: defenders Asmita Ale, Chantelle Swaby and Sari Kees, midfielder Ruby Mace, and forwards Noémie Mouchon and Shana Chossenotte.

Meanwhile, goalkeeper Demi Lambourne, who spent the past season on loan at Crystal Palace, was one of the players to leave the club, and WSL stalwart Aileen Whelan, who made 117 appearances for Brighton before joining Leicester in 2022, announced her retirement.

Previous Meetings…

Since Leicester’s promotion to the WSL in 2021, the Hammers have had the better of the meetings between the two sides, winning three of the six encounters and suffering just one defeat.

The two teams played out a pair of 1-1 draws last term, with Riko Ueki netting for the Irons in the fixture at the Chigwell Construction Stadium in May (watch highlights of that game above), while Honoka Hayashi bagged a 98th-minute equaliser for Skinner’s side at King Power Stadium in December 2023.

The Hammers are unbeaten against Leicester in the last four competitive meetings, but the Foxes ran out 5-2 winners when the two teams met in Western Australia in pre-season.
