West Ham United women’s team v Brighton & Hove Albion
Barclays Women's Super League, Chigwell Construction Stadium, Sunday 16 February 2025, 3pm GMT
West Ham United women’s team continue their 2024/25 Barclays Women’s Super League campaign with the visit of Brighton & Hove Albion on Sunday.
The Hammers return to action after a weekend without a fixture, which followed a busy period for Rehanne Skinner’s side, who stated her squad are re-energised for the clash at Chigwell Construction Stadium.
East London has proved a difficult place for opposition teams to come to this term, with only Chelsea and Arsenal claiming three points in the WSL, and the Irons will hope to earn the spoils against a Dario Vidošić outfit who are without a league victory since November.
However, the Seagulls began their WSL campaign brightly and their sprint start - which saw them chalk up four wins from their opening six league matches - has helped them up to fifth in the standings.
Meanwhile, Skinner’s side know that if they are to run out winners on Sunday, and results elsewhere go their way, then they would climb up the WSL table, so they are determined to head into the international break off the back of another memorable afternoon in Dagenham.
As was the case in the reverse fixture, Li Mengwen is ineligible to face her parent club while Amber Tysiak remains suspended for West Ham.

Opposition…
Brighton only made one signing during the January transfer window, which came in the form of defender Caitlin Hayes on a permanent transfer from Celtic, whom she spent the past four-and-a-half seasons with.
A quiet January followed a busy summer as Vidošić brought in ten new faces, including two England internationals: midfielder Frank Kirby and striker Nikita Parris.
The latter has been a breath of fresh air for Brighton since arriving in the summer. Moving from Manchester United after topping their scoring charts last term, Parris has brought experience to the Seagulls’ frontline, scoring nine goals and providing two assists in all competitions - including a brace in last weekend’s Adobe Women's FA Cup tie with Aston Villa.
The 30-year-old's first-team career began at Everton, where she spent four seasons before joining the blue half of Manchester. Her stint at City saw her make more than 100 appearances and score more than 50 goals.
After spells at Lyon and Arsenal, Parris joined Manchester United in the same summer that she made history with the Lionesses, helping England win UEFA Women’s Euro 2022 for the first time.
Meanwhile, Vidošić, who was appointed Brighton manager in the summer, has certainly shown his managerial qualities in the WSL this term - especially at the start of the campaign.
The 37-year-old spent two seasons at Melbourne City in Australia's A-League in his first managerial role before moving to the Amex, where he replaced interim boss Mikey Harris, who finished ninth with the Seagulls last term after the sacking of Melissa Phillips in February 2024.
As a player, Vidošić made more than 20 appearances for Australia’s first team, making his debut just three years after his first senior appearance in football.
Previous Meetings…
Brighton were narrow winners in the reverse fixture between the two teams, clinching a 3-2 victory after the Hammers fought back from two goals down through a Katrina Gorry brace.
While the Seagulls are unbeaten in three matches against the Irons, West Ham were victorious in October 2023 - winning 2-0 thanks to goals from Kirsty Smith and Riko Ueki.
That was one of the Hammers’ five victories over Brighton, but the Seagulls have won ten of the 18 meetings.
