West Ham United women’s team are supporting Breast Cancer Awareness Month throughout the month of October.
Every October, Breast Cancer Awareness Month shines a spotlight on one of the most prevalent health concerns affecting women globally. In the United Kingdom, breast cancer remains the most common cancer, accounting for nearly 15% of all new cancer cases. With an estimated 55,000 women diagnosed each year, the urgency of awareness, education and research has never been more critical.
To help raise vital awareness, the Club have worked with Breast Cancer Now, a charity that combines the power of research and support. Breast Cancer Now have provided the Club with essential learning resources and pink ribbon pin badges, which West Ham United women’s team staff will be wearing on Sunday.
The Hammers wore bespoke t-shirts and pink ribbons in training at Chadwell Heath this week and will do so again during the warm-up ahead of this weekend’s match against Arsenal.
The Official Matchday Programme has also taken on a new pink look, with a one-of-a-kind front cover that features the approved NHS tagline, ‘Touch, Look, Check’, to emphasise the importance of checking yourself to help detect breast cancer early.
