In recognition of Skin Cancer Awareness Month, West Ham United women’s team are proud to launch their ‘In Plain Sight' campaign to drive awareness of skin cancer, in partnership with Official Skincare Partner, ZO Skin Health.

For the month of May, ZO Skin Health have committed to educate and protect West Ham United fans by providing free online skin consultations and personalised treatment protocol.

Through their partnership with ZO Skin Health, West Ham United want to make fans aware of the dangers of sun exposure and raise awareness of skin cancer, as well as highlight the benefits of ZO Skin Health products, who’s SPF range are recommended by leading skin cancer charity, Skin Cancer Foundation.

To highlight the challenges of identifying skin changes, players from West Ham United women’s team, Mackenzie Arnold, Kristie Mewis and Shelina Zadorsky, were challenged to a game of ‘spot the difference’. Initially, the images featured differences that were easy to spot, with the final images showing minor skin alterations, signifying a potential skin issue. The players struggled to find a difference in the latter images, highlighting how difficult it is to identify subtle skin changes.

Skin cancer is the most common form of cancer in the UK. Over 250,000 cases of non-melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed in the UK each year with rates predicted to reach almost 400,000 per year by 2025. Around 17,500 cases of melanoma are diagnosed every year in the UK, with cases predicted to rise to 20,000 per year by 2025. However, if detected early, most skin cancers can be cured.
