Team News

Olli Harder should have a pretty strong squad at his disposal when Brighton arrive at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Maisy Barker is the only confirmed absentee, as the defender continues her rehabilitation from a foot injury that she suffered in pre-season.

Further team news will be available at 2pm on Sunday.

The Opposition

Brighton & Hove Albion arrive at the Chigwell Construction Stadium hoping to get back on track.

After a strong start to the season which saw the Seagulls win five of their opening seven matches – they’ve since only picked up seven points from their last ten matches in the top division.

They do however boast three wins in their last five matches in all competitions and will be hoping to fair better in Dagenham than they did in December, where the Hammers smashed an injury ravaged Brighton side 3-0 in the Continental Tyres League Cup.

Hope Powell has marshalled Brighton in every one of their WSL campaigns, having joined the club in 2017.

Her CV speaks for itself: Powell managed both England Women’s national team for 15 years until 2013 and Great Britain Olympic Women at London 2012.

In 2003, Powell became the first woman in history to earn the UEFA Pro Licence, which is the highest coaching qualification on offer.

After making her international debut at just 16 years of age, the former attacking midfielder bagged 66 caps for the Lionesses and scored 35 goals.

What they’re saying

“The game against Brighton will certainly be another tough contest.

“They have a superb manager in Hope Powell, and I’m sure the game will be a little bit different in comparison to our 3-0 win here in the Continental Tyres League Cup.

“It’s another chance to continue our good record at home, so we’re looking forward to the game.”
