West Ham United sign England U23s international Emma Harries

West Ham United Women is delighted to confirm the signing of England U23s international Emma Harries

The 21-year-old makes the move to east London after departing Reading at the end of June, and becomes the Irons’ second signing of the summer.

An energetic forward who is capable of playing all across the front line, Harries joined the Royals when she was eight years old and made her senior debut against the Hammers in October 2020.

Harries would go on to sign her first professional in January 2021 and in her debut season, she would play 16 times.

The forward would continue her development and become an important part of the Kelly Chambers’ side in the next two seasons, scoring six goals in 51 WSL appearances in total during her time in Berkshire.

Now Harries is set to embark on a new chapter with West Ham United, and she is looking forward to getting things started:

“It’s an amazing feeling to sign for West Ham United,” she told whufc.com. “West Ham is a huge Club and I think it’s the perfect next step for me in terms of developing as a player.

"I’m only 21 and this next step is going to be important for me, and West Ham are a Club that are pushing youth development, and that’s something that I was really excited by.

"The appointment of Rehanne [Skinner] was also something that helped with my decision making. She is somebody that has worked in the younger age groups for England and I think she will be the perfect manager to play under. It’s going to hopefully be a really good season.

“I can’t wait to get out there with the girls and work hard to prepare for the new campaign and I’m excited to meet all of the West Ham United fans.”

“Emma is an exciting talent with a hardworking attitude and a willingness to defend from the front. She can play anywhere across the front line, is tenacious and has the ability to create and score goals.

“Emma is still a relatively young player who I think has a lot of potential and I have no doubt she will add huge value to our squad.

“I look forward to working with Emma and helping her to flourish in Claret & Blue.”

Everyone at West Ham United would like to welcome Emma, and we look forward to seeing her in action during the upcoming season!
