The second international break of the 2023/24 campaign is upon us with a host of West Ham United players set for action with their respective senior national teams.
Major tournament qualifiers, international tests and cross-continental challenges await those who have been called up by their countries, with eleven Irons set for the opportunity to represent their countries at the highest level.
Read on for all you need to know about West Ham United’s October internationals:
Who has been called up?
As mentioned, eleven West Ham players could feature for their senior national sides over the next week.
Jarrod Bowen has returned to the England set-up for the first time since last year and will be eager to add to his four Three Lions caps earned so far. Doing so would cap a week which also saw the 26-year-old pen a new, long-term contract with West Ham United.
The forward has been included by Gareth Southgate for a pair of matches at Wembley Stadium with England welcoming Australia in an international friendly on Friday 13 October before facing Italy at the national stadium in a 2024 UEFA European Championship Group C qualification match on Tuesday 17 October.
England sit top of their group heading into this round of fixtures, with 13 points from five matches played so far.
Czech Republic international duo Vladimír Coufal and Tomáš Souček will also be in 2024 UEFA Euro qualifying action across the international break. They and their compatriots will travel to Albania for a Group E game on Thursday 12 October, and will then welcome the Faroe Islands to Plzeň for another group stage match on Sunday 15 October.
The Czech Republic are second in Group E on eight points from four matches played and are two points behind Albania, who have played a game more.
In Group B, Konstantinos Mavropanos will be hoping to help Greece reach the final tournament next summer. He and his international colleagues will play the Republic of Ireland in Dublin on Friday 13 October before welcoming the Netherlands to Athens on Tuesday 17 October.
Also in Group B is Alphonse Areola and France, with Les Bleus top of the group. They travel to Amsterdam for a 2024 UEFA Euro qualifier on Friday 13 October, and end the international break with a friendly fixture at home to Scotland on Tuesday 17 October.
Academy of Football youngster Callum Marshall could also be involved with Northern Ireland in October’s qualifiers, having earned his first international cap in June. The 18-year-old will be hoping to feature in his side’s two Group H matches, at home to San Marino and Slovenia on Saturday 14 October and Tuesday 17 October, respectively.
Elsewhere, summer signings Edson Álvarez and Mohammed Kudus will come up against each other in an international clash in the United States, when Mexico and Ghana play each other at the Bank Of America Stadium in North Carolina in the early hours of Sunday 15 October.
The two will then also be in action early on Wednesday 18 October as Álvarez and Mexico take on Germany, while Kudus and Ghana play the United States.
Nayef Aguerd will be back with the Morocco side this October too. The defender and his teammates play the Ivory Coast in a friendly fixture on Saturday 14 October before returning to Africa Cup Of Nations qualification action, when they play Liberia on Tuesday 17 October.
Michail Antonio will link up with the Jamaica squad during the international break. The national side are scheduled for a CONCACAF Nations League Group B match away to Granada in the early hours of Friday 13 October, before another Group B qualifier away to Haiti on Monday 16 October.
Finally, Saïd Benrahma and Algeria will play two international friendlies in the coming week. A home clash with Cape Vaerde at the Mohamed Hamlaoui Stadium this coming Thursday will be followed by a game against Egypt in Abu Dhabi, UAE, on Monday 15 October.
