West Ham United have been nominated in two categories at the 2024 Football Content Awards.
The Hammers have been shortlisted in the Best Football Club – Premier League category after a record-breaking year in which the Club’s social media channels have grown at a ‘remarkable’ rate.
The Irons now have over 20 million followers and subscribers across their social media channels, with record engagement across Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Tik Tok, Threads, X and YouTube, and that has been recognised by the Football Content Awards.
“West Ham United FC has achieved remarkable growth on social media, with a significant increase in followers and engagement. Their content strategy includes dynamic match action highlights and compelling player stories, making them the top Premier League club outside the ‘Big 6’ in terms of digital engagement.”
West Ham have also been nominated for the Best Documentary for Ómarsson, the Club’s original film following lifelong Hammer, women’s team and Iceland international midfielder Dagný Brynjarsdóttir's journey through pregnancy as a professional sportswoman and the barriers female athletes face when making the decision to become a mother.
“West Ham United’s Ómarsson tells the story of Dagný Brynjarsdóttir, who balances motherhood and her role in the Club’s women’s team. The documentary shines a light on the challenges female athletes face when starting families and paves the way for discussions about motherhood in professional sports, highlighting the steps clubs are taking to support their players.”
The finalists were selected from over 36,000 nominations, which were grouped into more than 1,200 entries across 34 categories. Over 60 judges reviewed the entries to determine the finalists, making up 50% of the vote.
The remaining 50% is a fan vote, which is open now through a form on the Football Content Awards website and Instagram, Threads, Facebook and Twitter. Vote for West Ham United to win these two prestigious awards now!
The winners will be announced at the Football Content Awards, which will be held at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Thursday 21 November.
