West Ham United’s U14s successfully defended their Junior title at the prestigious SuperCupNI, clinching victory over County Down in a dramatic final.
The young Hammers showcased great resilience throughout the tournament, going unbeaten and holding their nerve in penalty shootouts during both the semi-final and the final.
The SuperCupNI - this year held from Sunday 21 July to Friday 26 July - welcomes elite academies from around the globe, offering a platform where future stars can shine. First hosted in 1983 as the NI Milk Cup, the SuperCupNI is one of the most important events in Northern Ireland’s sporting calendar. Throughout the years, it has previously seen the emergence of England internationals such as Joe Cole, Marcus Rashford and James Milner.
“We love coming to Coleraine every year,” said Academy Manager Kenny Brown. “It’s a really well organised tournament that offers great experience for the young boys and an excellent opportunity to build strong relationships ahead of the new season.”
Commenting on the young Hammers’ exploits, Brown added: “It's a wonderful way to kick off the season. We’ll be closely monitoring the progress of this talented group and look forward to seeing their future achievements.”
