Riko Ueki

West Ham trio Arnold, Shimizu & Ueki in pre-Olympic friendly action

Mackenzie Arnold featured for Australia as they beat China 2-0 in their final warmup fixture ahead of the 2024 Olympic Games.

The goalkeeper was brought on just before half-time in Sydney, which allowed Lydia Williams to make her final appearance on home soil before she retires from international football, which she will do after the Olympics concludes.

After the break, the Matildas scored two quickfire goals through Clare Wheeler and Hayley Raso to mean that they head into the Olympic tournament in France on a high.

Riko Shimizu and Riko Ueki were in action for Japan in their 4-1 win in their friendly match against New Zealand.

Nadeshiko had to come from behind after Milly Clegg notched the only goal of the first half. Ueki was replaced at the break by Chelsea forward Maika Hamano, who notched two goals to send her side on their way.

Aoba Fujino and Remina Chiba added further goals in a dominant second half display. Honoka Hayashi was an unused substitute in the win.

Japan face Ghana in the MS&AD Cup on Saturday 13 July, which will act as their final warm-up game ahead of the Olympic tournament.

Australia will face Germany, Zambia and the United States in Group B, whilst Japan take on Spain, Brazil and Nigeria in Group C.
