Ahead of the West Ham United Foundation’s Golf Day & Dinner fundraiser, Hammers star James Ward-Prowse, along with former players James Collins and Matty Etherington, embarked on a three-hole challenge against PGA professional and devoted fan James Wood at The Shire.
With the purpose to showcase the course which will soon play host to the Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year, the players convened at The Shire clubhouse to beat Wood’s score set on the first three holes.
"It was a really great day,” Ward-Prowse smiled. “Me and the boys played some more holes after the challenge and I must say it’s a really interesting and testing course.
“The Foundation is really important to us and it’s great that we get the opportunity to be part of it. People are going through hard times, so it's really important that they can give back to that and help people.”
The WHU Foundation’s Golf Day & Dinner is the single most important fundraising event for the Club’s official charity. Fans can register a team of four, or three with the inclusion of a former West Ham player.
Additionally, the golfing experience offers challenges on sponsored holes, entertainment from a trick shot artist, and the convenience of a dedicated cleaning service to ensure players' clubs are immaculate before they head to the clubhouse for dinner and the auction.
