David Moyes has named his team as West Ham United seek a 350th Premier League win at home to champions Manchester City on Saturday.
Kurt Zouma captains the Hammers after being confirmed as skipper for the 2023/24 season by Moyes in his pre-match press conference.
The France international has worn the armband in the opening four top-flight matches, which have seen West Ham collect ten points and remain unbeaten to go into this weekend fourth in the table.
His compatriot Alphonse Areola continues in goal, behind a defence comprised of Czech Republic international Vladimír Coufal and UEFA Euro 2020 winner Emerson in the full-back positions, Zouma and Morocco star Nayef Aguerd at the heart of the back four.
The midfield will be anchored by Mexican Edson Álvarez, playing alongside Coufal’s compatriot Tomáš Souček and England international James Ward-Prowse.
Souček returns after missing the 1 September victory at Luton Town, having suffered a head injury in the 3-1 win at Brighton & Hove Albion the previous weekend.
Ward-Prowse has been directly involved in eight goals in his last seven Premier League appearances for West Ham and previous club Southampton, scoring three times and providing five assists. He has a goal and three assists in three appearances in Claret and Blue.
Lucas Paquetá, who provided an assist in the 2-1 win at Luton before the international break, will fill the No10 position.
With Saïd Benrahma dropping to the substitutes’ bench, the front line will consist of the player who benefited from the Brazilian’s creativity at Kenilworth Road, Jarrod Bowen, and Jamaica international Michail Antonio.
Greece defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, who scored twice for his country against Gibraltar in a recent UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier, is fit after recovering from injury and is among the nine named substitutes.
