Team News | Potter offers squad update ahead of Fulham clash

West Ham United Head Coach Graham Potter has offered updates on the fitness of several members of his squad ahead of Tuesday's Premier League derby with Fulham.

The Hammers' new boss takes charge of his side at London Stadium for the first time, but will have to juggle his attacking options after losing striker Niclas Füllkrug to a hamstring injury in Friday night's Emirates FA Cup defeat at Aston Villa.

Füllkrug joins Jarrod Bowen and Michail Antonio in being sidelined, while Crysencio Summerville was also withdrawn at half-time of the Villa Park defeat.

Potter says the absence of several members of his attacking ranks means he will have to explore alternatives on Tuesday, but he is sure he has the players in his squad to step up against the Cottagers.

"It's fair to say it's a significant one [for Füllkrug]," Potter confirmed. "Anybody that's watching the game, when a player pulls up like that, you know that something fairly serious has happened.

"So it's still early in terms of full diagnosis, I would suggest, but nevertheless, a significant one, a number of weeks.

"With Crysencio, it's a minor one. It's probably a little bit more than precautionary [in taking him off at Aston Villa] - he felt something after about 35 minutes and finished his first half, but probably not at 100 per cent.

"It's touch and go [for Tuesday], but probably erring towards the negative at the moment. We'll see.

"Sometimes in these situations [with several absences in one position], you have to be creative. You have to look at the attacking players you have and what their attributes are and use them accordingly.

"So Mo's [Kudus] got the capability to do that. It's an option for us. We've got other options too. Lucas Paquetá can play there, obviously Danny Ings.

"Every player is important and Danny's played a role here for sure. He'll step up. He had a big game against Aston Villa, coming in and playing as long as he did. So there's lots of things to consider in terms of selection for Tuesday."

Elsewhere in the squad, Potter confirmed that Emerson is moving towards being available after missing the trip to Villa Park, while Dinos Mavropanos will be in his squad despite having to be substituted towards the end of the cup defeat.

"Emerson's made good progress," he added. "He's been training today and yesterday.

"Todibo's just still with the physio. Mavropanos, [there's] no problem, he’s trained the last two days, so that’s good."
