Team News: Paquetá and Álvarez return to face Olympiacos

Lucas Paquetá and Edson Álvarez return to West Ham United’s starting XI as Olympiacos head to London Stadium on Thursday evening.

The midfield duo are among three changes from the trip to Brentford as Łukasz Fabiański skippers the side for our fourth UEFA Europa League outing of 2023/24.

The defence is unchanged from Sunday, as Vladimír Coufal, Konstantinos Mavropanos, Nayef Aguerd, and Emerson keep their places.

Skipper Kurt Zouma, meanwhile, remains absent from the matchday squad due to injury.

Seeking to stretch a home unbeaten run in Europe to ten matches, James Ward-Prowse, who is set to make his 15th appearance in Claret and Blue, joins the returning Álvarez and Paquetá in the middle of the park.

Further forward, Mohammed Kudus makes his fifth straight start for the Hammers and could score for the third straight match, having netted against Brentford and Arsenal.

The Ghana winger will support the Club’s scorers in the UEFA Europa Conference League final, Jarrod Bowen and Saïd Benrahma, in attack, with Bowen seeking his ninth goal of the season.

A strong bench is named too by David Moyes, with seasoned internationals Alphonse Areola, Thilo Kehrer, Maxwel Cornet, Michail Antonio, and Tomáš Souček to call upon.

Experienced heads Angelo Ogbonna, Danny Ings, and Pablo Fornals are also named as the Irons seek revenge from a 2-1 defeat in the reverse fixture last month.

Academy of Football graduates Ben Johnson, Joseph Anang and Divin Mubama, who scored for the U21s in Tuesday’s 4-0 win over Cheltenham Town, are also available should they be required.
