West Ham United boss David Moyes offered an update on the fitness of his squad ahead of Saturday lunchtime's Premier League clash away at Newcastle United.
Following the domestic scene's two-week hiatus due to the final international break of 2023/24, the Hammers travel north this weekend, looking to stretch their four-game unbeaten run in the league and secure a victory that would boost their hopes of qualifying for a fourth successive season of European football.
Moyes confirmed that Nayef Aguerd and Lucas Paquetá will be assessed in the lead up to the fixture at St James' Park, with both having recently returned to the Club after spending time away with their countries.
Defender Aguerd completed the full 90 minutes of games against Angola and Mauritania for Morocco while Paquetá appeared for Brazil against England and Spain, the latter of which saw the Hammers' No10 net a dramatic equalising penalty.
"Overall, we're pretty much fine, but we've just got questions marks over Nayef and Lucas," Moyes said.
"They've only recently returned, and we're just keeping an eye on them to see how they are."
Forward Maxwel Cornet has been busy regaining his match fitness at Rush Green during the break in play, completing his recovery from a hamstring injury he picked up in training last month.
And Moyes hinted the Ivorian could be eligible for selection against the Magpies, as he looks to make his first appearance in Claret and Blue since 17 February.
The manager added: "Maxi is back training. He's been back out there for a few days, so he's certainly in and around it.
"I don't know if he's fully match fit or quite ready yet, but he's getting there and it's good to have him with us."
