Thilo Kehrer trains ahead of Fulham

Team News: Moyes offers Kehrer update

David Moyes has offered an update on Thilo Kehrer’s availability for Saturday’s Premier League match with Chelsea.

West Ham United welcome the Blues to London Stadium in the weekend’s early fixture as the Hammers look to build on last Saturday’s draw away to Newcastle United.

The Irons saw German international Kehrer subbed off at St James’ Park and Moyes has indicated the versatile defender did sustain a knock in the 1-1 against the Magpies.

“We are much the way we were at the weekend,” Moyes said. “Thilo [Kehrer] is the main one. He came off with an injury [against Newcastle United]. After that, I don’t think we will get any more boys back compared to last week.

Hopefully they're on the way back and we'll get them back for the second half of the season.

“We have been a bit unfortunate with injuries this year. The last couple of years we've had a brilliant record on injuries, and the medical team have done a great job. But maybe because of playing 60 games in the last two seasons, it might have just taken a bit of a toll in some places.

“But mostly it's probably the new boys who've had injuries, but hopefully, they're on the way back and we'll get them back for the second half of the season.”

Moyes is delighted with how his new signings are settling into life at West Ham, naming Nayef Aguerd, Lucas Paquetá and Emerson for their recent efforts in Claret and Blue.

With Danny Ings also making a return last weekend following a short spell on the sidelines, the manager is happy to see the newest members of his squad beginning to find form.

Paqueta trains in the new training kit

“I am beginning to see the likes of Nayef Aguerd and Paquetá show their value and what they are worth and their ability. We’ve not got Gianluca Scamacca at the moment, but we're looking forward to getting Danny Ings back into it as well.

“We are seeing a little bit more consistency from Emerson now, just beginning to use used to us as well. We’re just beginning to get some of the players who we brought are beginning to find a little bit of form. We always thought it would be the case.

“I think when new players come into clubs in the Premier League now it is really difficult to all hit the ground running. And this season, we've taken a little bit longer than we would have liked.”
