Team News: Moyes makes four changes for Manchester United visit

David Moyes has named his team for West Ham United’s Premier League fixture with Manchester United on Saturday, which kicks-off at 12.30pm at London Stadium.

The manager makes four changes to the side which started the 5-1 midweek EFL Cup fifth-round defeat at Liverpool.

Captain Kurt Zouma, Emerson, James Ward-Prowse and Lucas Paquetá all return to the team, having all started last weekend’s 3-0 Premier League win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in east London.

Ben Johnson, Angelo Ogbonna, Pablo Fornals and Saïd Benrahma are the four players who drop to the substitutes’ bench.

Fornals will reach two landmarks should he be introduced from the substitutes’ bench this afternoon. The Spaniard will hit 200 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers and also hit 150 Premier League appearances for the Club, should he get on.

Another substitute who could reach a landmark today is Thilo Kehrer, who starts the day on 49 appearances for the Irons in all competitions.

Manchester United starting XI

Alphonse Areola starts in goal, having fully recovered from the wrist injury that saw him miss the win over Wolverhampton Wanderers. Łukasz Fabiański is named as one of the nine substitutes.

Skipper Zouma starts in central defence alongside Dinos Mavropanos, with Nayef Aguerd still absent through illness. Vladimír Coufal and Emerson fill the full-back positions, as usual.

Edson Álvarez anchors the midfield and will come up against former Ajax teammates André Onana and Antony, as will in-form forward Mohammed Kudus, who scored twice in the win over Wolves last weekend and is expected to start on the right wing.

Ward-Prowse also starts in midfield as he faces Manchester United for the 20th time in his career, with Czech Republic national team captain Tomáš Souček alongside him in the engine room.

Paquetá will hope for a repeat of his three-assist performance against Wolves, one of which provided Jarrod Bowen with the pass to score his tenth Premier League goal of the season. Only Erling Haaland and Mohamed Salah have scored more top-flight goals this season, while the England international took his tally to 12 in all competitions with a superb consolation strike at Anfield in midweek.

The nine-strong substitutes’ bench will be completed by Aaron Cresswell, Divin Mubama and Danny Ings.

Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has named 19-year-old Willy Kambwala at centre-back for his senior debut, while fellow teenagers Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho also start, as does 20-year-old centre-forward Rasmus Højlund.
