West Ham United assistant coach Billy McKinlay offered an update on the fitness of Lucas Paquetá and Jarrod Bowen ahead of Tuesday night’s Emirates FA Cup third-round replay away at Bristol City.
The Hammers travel west for a clash against their EFL Championship opponents under the lights at Ashton Gate, looking to secure a spot in the fourth round of the competition for the seventh consecutive season after a 1-1 draw in the sides’ initial meeting earlier this month.
Paquetá was withdrawn after 14 minutes of that contest - ten minutes after Bowen had opened the scoring from his assist at London Stadium - but McKinlay confirmed that the duo will not be fit to play against the Robins this time out.
“Lucas isn’t available - he took a knock in the last game - and Jarrod’s the same,” the 54-year-old said.
“They’re the injuries that have come about since the last match, so we’ll see how they progress after tomorrow and across the next few days.”
With the likes of Michail Antonio still injured, and Mohammed Kudus away at the Africa Cup of Nations, McKinlay suggested Danny Ings and Divin Mubama could be in contention to earn playing time in attack in midweek.
Along with Mubama, three more FA Youth Cup winners, defender Kaelan Casey, midfielder Ollie Scarles and forward Callum Marshall, are also set to travel as part of Moyes' squad to Bristol.
He added: “We’re short of a couple of players, so we’re going to need to make some changes.
“Training’s been positive over the last couple of days, so we’ll see how it goes between now and the game and then the gaffer will pick the team he thinks is right.”
