Danny Ings makes his first Premier League start of the season as West Ham United face his former side Burnley on Saturday afternoon.
Ings, who scored 43 goals in 130 appearances for the Clarets across a four-year spell, comes into the starting XI for the Irons’ Premier League visit to Turf Moor.
Fellow forward Michail Antonio was ruled out by manager David Moyes during Friday’s pre-match press conference, and Jarrod Bowen is also unavailable due to injury, meaning Ings gets the opportunity to impress against his old team.
The 31-year-old’s introduction into the starting XI is the solitary change for the Hammers from the 3-2 win over Nottingham Forest prior to the international break.
Alphonse Areola continues in goal, having made 45 saves in the Premier League this campaign, the fifth most of any goalkeeper in the division.
Captain Kurt Zouma will once again lead a defensive line that also contains Vladimír Coufal, Nayef Aguerd and Emerson Palmieri. Aguerd makes his 30th Premier League appearance this afternoon.
The Hammers midfield unit puts Mexico international Edson Álvarez alongside James Ward-Prowse and Tomáš Souček. The Czech captain scored the late winning goal in the 3-2 win over Forest at London Stadium, and also netted twice for his country during the international break to secure qualification for UEFA Euro 2024.
The 28-year-old is on eight finishes this campaign for Club and country and will be eager to continue his good form in front of goal at Turf Moor.
Lucas Paquetá also scored in that victory over Forest – a fantastic strike from the edge of the penalty area – and the Brazilian will be hoping to add to his five goals in all competitions for West Ham this campaign.
Mohammed Kudus retains his place in the starting XI too, starting a fourth consecutive Premier League game, while Ings will lead the attacking line for the Irons in Lancashire. Saturday’s match marks his fourth start for West Ham this season in all competitions.
Manager David Moyes has experience to rely on from the bench in the likes of goalkeeper Łukasz Fabiański, Greek defender Konstantinos Mavropanos, Angelo Ogbonna, Aaron Cresswell, Thilo Kehrer, Spaniard Pablo Fornals and Saïd Benrahma.
Former Bunley attacker Maxwel Cornet and young attacker Divin Mubama complete the options among the substitutes.
