Team News | Füllkrug to miss Ipswich clash

Forward Niclas Füllkrug is set to remain on the sidelines during West Ham United's Premier League clash against Ipswich Town at London Stadium on Saturday.

The summer signing has missed the Hammers’ last four games in all competitions, since he suffered an injury in his calf and Achilles area while featuring for Germany on international duty last month.

In total, the 31-year-old has made four appearances in Claret and Blue so far following his switch from Borussia Dortmund, and boss Julen Lopetegui confirmed that while he had returned to training, ongoing issues have delayed his return until after the next instalment of international action, which will proceed after the weekend's Ipswich game.

For now, there are no other injury concerns within the West Ham squad, while midfielder Edson Álvarez is back in contention for selection after serving a one-game suspension for the red card he received in the Carabao Cup third round defeat at Liverpool little over a week ago.

The Irons are looking to sign off for the two-week top-flight break in play with a first home three-point haul of the 2024/25 campaign, and will entertain the Tractor Boys at London Stadium for the first time, in the teams' first competitive meeting in over 12 years.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, Head Coach Lopetegui said: "Regarding injuries, we have the Füllkrug injury - he continues to be out.

"He's had some little problems, and it's true that he's been unavailable between the two international breaks, but hopefully he'll be ready for the matches when we come back.

"The rest of the players are ready, and working hard for what is an important game on Saturday."
