Team News | Coufal and Paquetá ruled out of Leicester fixture

West Ham United Head Coach Graham Potter revealed that neither Vladimír Coufal nor Lucas Paquetá will be fit to face Leicester City in the Premier League on Thursday evening.

The Hammers welcome the Foxes to London Stadium seeking back-to-back victories for the first time in Potter’s reign, and the first time in the Premier League this season.

However, they will have to achieve a win over Ruud van Nistelrooy’s side without their Czech Republic wing-back and Brazil midfielder, who are recovering from thigh and ankle injuries respectively.

“Both are progressing, but both won’t make the squad on Thursday, but they’re making progress,” he explained, speaking in his pre-match press conference at Rush Green training ground on Tuesday afternoon.

“Vladi certainly has a chance for Newcastle [United at home on Monday 10 March]. With Lucas, we’ll just have to see how he responds, but certainly for Leicester, no.”

Potter will also be without long-term absentee Michail Antonio, who is working at Rush Green with the Club’s medical staff as he recovers from the car accident he was involved in last December.

The same is true of Germany centre-forward Niclas Füllkrug and Dutch winger Crysencio Summerville, who suffered hamstring injuries in Potter’s first game in charge, an Emirates FA Cup third-round tie at Aston Villa on 10 January.

West Ham host Leicester at London Stadium on Thursday evening at 8pm.
