Rehanne Skinner said that her side have to be more clinical in both boxes, but don't need to veer away from how they have been playing when they face Leicester City on Sunday afternoon.
The Hammers travel to King Power Stadium for their final Barclays Women's Super League fixture of the calendar year, and are determined to turn in a good performance and get points on the board.
The match on Sunday 17 December will be the fifth meeting between the two sides since the WSL was established, and Skinner's side will be hoping to make it a fourth win against the Foxes when the two teams meet for a 3pm kick-off.
The manager is looking forward facing off against the Foxes, and hopes that the team will be able to pull together a strong performance that will reward them with points.
Skinner spoke about the upcoming fixture, the development of the squad, the need for points and provided an update on team news in her pre-match press conference.
Recent performances
Overall, the players like the way that we’re playing and can see the benefits of it in the way we’re going about things onto the pitch. They can see the benefits that we’re having in terms of our performances.
At the weekend, we’ve had plenty of chances to win the game. So, it’s a frustrating time because we’re not getting things out of the game when we definitely feel like we should be.
Everyone’s application in training has been superb and we're committed to the way that we play.
Picking up points
We want more results, the fans want to see more wins and more points. We're working really hard to achieve that, and it takes a little bit of time.
We've said from the start that it's about changing the philosophy and playing a certain style of football, as well as building our squad depth. That's a massive part of what we're doing this year.
We just need to be more clinical, in both boxes actually, because there's been a few goals that we've conceded and moments which required a little bit of game management.
It's about bringing it all together with a relatively young squad and completely changing the way that we're playing. We're continuing to work really hard to bring it all together.
Leicester's aggression
Willie [Kirk] has got Leicester playing in an aggressive way. They'll be on the front foot with everything and mark all over the pitch tightly.
It's going to be important to be effective on the ball, and to move the ball well as well as move it quickly. We want to make sure we utilise our strengths against that as well.
There's certainly areas that we think we can exploit, but no doubt they'll say the same things about us.
We're both in a similar position in that results haven't gone our way recently, and everyone on our side will come out and fight, and wants to make sure that we get three points before Christmas and finish off well before the break.
Team News
We won't have Amber Tysiak available this weekend. She has a concussion related injury and hasn't hit the protocol required for her to be available.
We're unsure about Mackenzie [Arnold] at this stage. She's still working her way back from a tricep tear.
Other than that, everyone is moving in the right direction.
