A chance to make it four consecutive wins presents itself then, as Premier League football returns to London Stadium on Sunday, although a tough challenge awaits West Ham United.
Eddie Howe’s high-flying Magpies travel South, and, with both sides coming into the match following comprehensive wins in Europe in midweek, a competitive and exciting fixture is set for East London.
The Irons will also seek consecutive home wins having beaten Sheffield United last Saturday, with David Moyes hopeful his side's bright start to the campaign can continue.
The Gaffer also reflected on Jarrod Bowen’s England call-up, Lucas Paquetá’s impressive performances, and provided an update on striker Michail Antonio, who missed Thursday’s win against SC Freiburg.
A pleasing start in Europe and the Premier League
I think when you go into football management you are never always going to get it rosey because it is just the nature of it. You need to be very lucky as a manager to have a period where you don’t have bad spells.
But at the moment, I feel as though we are in a good run of form, and I think we have picked up some good results. We would have liked to have won a couple more games, but I am really pleased with how we are doing.
The growth of West Ham over the past few years
When I came in, I saw West Ham as a Club with a huge potential for growth. I was very fortunate to see some big clubs and be at some clubs for some long periods and I really thought West Ham had a very big opportunity to grow and get better. And I believe we are.
I think three years in a row with European football had not been done before. I think getting to a final and a semi-final the year before, even finishing in European positions and challenging near the top of the league is a really big thing.
But I think to see West Ham as a football Club grow is the most important thing. There are many more young supporters coming to the games because they are players they can identify with.
It is already a huge club in this part of London, but I think we are still scratching the surface and there is so much more we can do.
Bowen back with the Three Lions
I think Jarrod is getting to a stage now where he is maturing with his all-round play. I am thrilled he has been called up by England. He works really hard never misses a day’s training and puts himself out there every day and practices to do what he does best.
He is scoring goals for us. We played him last night as a centre-forward. And he is beginning to become a lot more talented as a player all-round.
You have to remember this is a player who started at Hereford and then played at Hull City and has now stepped up [to the Premier League]. It is great when you see boys step through the leagues and he is doing brilliantly well here at the moment.
Michail Antonio’s fitness
I will need to see [if Michail is available]. He's not trained yet.
He has done some running with the medical team, so over the next couple of days we will see if he is able to play.
Paquetá’s recent performances
I think that after the World Cup last year, Lucas has started to show some form. But we said many times that a lot of new players coming to the Premier League take a bit of time to settle in.
He is an incredibly talented footballer and has shown people his talent in many ways. He scored a great goal last night and did a lot of good things as well.
But there are things that he does that make me pull my hair out and go: ‘My god, what are doing?!’ But we are enjoying having him on the team as well. He has a lot of good qualities.
Newcastle are one of Europe’s best
They had a night in Europe, which will be remembered for so long. We had a great night here, a few years ago against Sevilla when we won in extra time to get through.
There are nights in European football in the club’s history which you always remember. And I think Newcastle will always remember the night they had against PSG.
I think they are one of the best teams in Europe at the moment. They have got so much quality on their side and their manager has done a good job at a club that was unsure of what direction they were going to go.
Obviously, they have had help from the new owners, but I have got to say the manager has steered them into a good organisation and shape. And I think they are up with some of the top teams in Europe at the moment.
