Crysencio Summerville

Summerville crowned PFA Championship Player of the Year

Summer signing Crysencio Summerville was among the winners at the 2024 PFA Awards, with the Hammers winger picking up the Championship Player of the Year gong following his outstanding exploits during 2023/24.

Going into last season, the 22-year-old had gradually made his mark at Leeds United following his move to West Yorkshire in 2020, and enjoyed a breakthrough 2022/23 campaign that yielded four goals in 28 Premier League appearances.

Though the Whites were relegated at the end of that season, Summerville emerged as a key man as they went agonisingly close to earning an immediate return to the top-flight, contributing 21 goals and ten assists in all competitions for the eventual beaten Play-Off finalists.

Such form prompted interest from many of the most high-profile clubs in the country, with West Ham ultimately winning the race to sign the Netherlands U21 starlet at the start of August.

Our new No7 - who was also named in the PFA Championship Team of the Season - got his first minutes in Claret and Blue in the Betway Cup triumph over RC Celta de Vigo, before making his competitive debut for the Irons against Aston Villa in the Premier League last time out.

Congratulations, Crysencio!
