Starting XI | Asseyi and Paví in for Spurs derby

Rehanne Skinner has restored Viviane Asseyi and Manuela Paví to her West Ham United women’s team starting XI for their Barclays Women’s Super League match at home to Tottenham Hotspur.

The Hammers take to battle at Chigwell Construction Stadium knowing three points will take them above their London rivals in the WSL standings.

The latter came off the bench to score the all-important late equaliser against Manchester City 18 days ago, and Skinner has rewarded the Colombia international with a start against Robert Vilahamn’s side.

The winger, who is set to make her seventh WSL start of the campaign, with her first coming in the reverse fixture in November, replaces Seraina Piubel in the XI, who is named on the bench.

Meanwhile, France international Asseyi comes straight back into the fold after she served a one-match suspension for the visit of the Citizens, and she comes in for defender Eva Nyström, as Skinner looks set to alter the formation of her team for Sunday’s London derby.

Starting XI

Those are the only two changes to the West Ham starting XI, meaning Kinga Szemik is in between the sticks for the 17th successive league fixture, having made 16 saves in the last two games.

The Poland international will likely be supported by a back four. Former Spurs defender Shelina Zadorsky and Amber Tysiak will be the centre-half partnership at the spine of the defence, with Verena Hanshaw and Anouk Denton providing cover on the left and right respectively.

Oona Siren and captain Katrina Gorry will marshal the midfield with Asseyi, Shekiera Martinez and Paví likely to support Riko Ueki up front.

Skinner has nine substitutes on her bench: goalkeeper Megan Walsh, defenders Camila Sáez, Nyström, Kirsty Smith and Li Mengwen, midfielder Dagný Brynjarsdóttir and forwards Emma Harries, Piubel and Princess Ademiluyi.
