West Ham United extended their unbeaten run to a fifth game with Sunday’s 1-1 Premier League draw against Crystal Palace, but midfielder Tomáš Souček wanted more.
The No28 played a key role in helping the Irons to four straight victories ahead of the visit of the Eagles, scoring late winners against Notingham Forest, Burnley and FK TSC Bačka Topola.
And after Mohammed Kudus netted early on at London Stadium, another three-point haul looked on the cards.
However, Odsonne Édouard seized upon a loose piece of play from the hosts to level seven minutes after half-time and the Irons could not conjure the same late drama this time around.
That was not for the lack of trying, with Souček ultimately disappointed with the single point.
“Obviously we wanted to win but in the end it was a draw,” he said. “We made one mistake and we conceded.
“I think we looked like the better team in the last ten, 15 minutes, and we wanted more, to win, but we couldn’t score in the last minute.
“We take the point and now we want to get ready for another game.”
The Hammers went close to a late winner when Jarrod Bowen headed Pablo Fornals’ cross at goalkeeper Sam Johnstone and Souček felt that late home pressure was a trait his team should have shown throughout the contest.
“We won the last four games before this, two in the league and Europe, so it was a good way, and we were attacking in the last 15 minutes all the time,” he added.
“I think we should play [like that final period] more, not too deep or too slow, we should play more forward and get them under pressure.
“Now, we play a big derby in the next game [at Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday]. For us and for our fans it’s a very important game and we want to be ready for it.”
