Tomáš Souček has been named the Czech Footballer of the Year for the fourth time after a fantastic 2023/24 season for club and country.
With voting undertaken by the Czech Football Association (FAČR), the West Ham United midfielder finished ahead of Slavia Prague’s Lukáš Provod by a significant margin of 21 points.
The award is further recognition of the 30-year-old's influential and decisive performances for club and country since the start of last season.
Souček, who recently celebrated his fifth anniversary in Claret and Blue, received the prestigious accolade on the back of an impressive goal-involvement haul of 13 from 52 appearances in 2023/24, while he played eleven matches for the national team. As captain, he led the national team to Group B1 success in the Nations League, securing promotion to League A, and scored against Turkey at UEFA Euro 2024.

Now Souček’s efforts over the season have been rewarded with the Footballer of the Year prize, announced at the jubilee 60th anniversary award ceremony held at the Hilton Hotel in Prague on Monday night.
Souček is now tied with legendary former Lazio and Juventus midfielder Pavel Nedvěd on four Czech Footballer of the Year awards, having previously been crowned in 2019, 2020 and 2023, bettered only by Ivo Viktor (five) and former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Čech (nine)
He will now quickly turn his attention to increasing his tally of 77 international caps as Ivan Hašek’s men aim to make a winning start to their qualifying campaign and ultimately earn a spot at the World Cup finals, set to be held in Canada, Mexico and the USA next year, for the first time since 2006, in fixtures against the Faroe Islands at Malšovická Arena on Saturday 22 March, and Gibraltar at Estádio Algarve in Portugal on Tuesday 25 March.
Congratulations, Tomáš!
