Sister Clubs help bring women's team matchday to life!

West Ham United women's team were delighted to have Sister Clubs Wo Sports and FC Redwing as their Flag Bearers and Ball Assistants at their most recent Barclays Women's Super League fixture, a 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

The two clubs helped bring the matchday to life, and had the opportunity to meet players whilst helping to build the atmosphere at the team's home in Dagenham.

The Hammers battled from behind against the Reds, with Riko Ueki netting a 95th minute equaliser to send the fans home smiling at the full-time whistle as they notched another point on the board.

Speaking after the match, Nicola Wilson of WO Sports and George Tomlinson Primary School reflected on their day out at Chigwell Construction Stadium.

“We were delighted to have the opportunity to have a number of young players represent the WO Sport as Flag Bearers at the Liverpool fixture," she said.

“It was the first live match that most of our youngsters had been to, and they thoroughly enjoyed their day out.

“We’d like to thank West Ham United women’s team for giving us the opportunity to experience such an up-close and personal matchday experience.”

Mark Gordon, Head of Academy at FC Redwing, said:

“We'd like to thank West Ham United women's team for giving us this brilliant opportunity to get close to their favourite players. This is FC Redwing’s third season as a Sister Club and it has been fantastic for all our young girls. It constantly helps inspire them to play the beautiful game.

"Not only do we benefit from the reduced Season Ticket prices, West Ham are great in offering opportunities, such as being mascots or ball girls, player visits, signed merchandise, training ground tours and guest coaches. All of these different opportunities allow our players to interact with the stars of the team, which inspires them to them to get involved themselves.”

As a Sister Club of West Ham United women's team, clubs receive benefits ranging from signed merchandise and exposure on whufc.com, plus discounted tickets and appearances from first-team players and coaching staff.

Opportunities may also arise where clubs can be part of our matchday experience and help us to create a buzz at our home matches.
