Piubel | We worked really hard for one another in Leicester win

Seriana Piubel believes that she is becoming more and more accustomed to the demands of the Barclays Women's Super League (WSL) with every minute spent out on the pitch for West Ham United women's team.

Piubel was making her third consecutive start in the WSL, and shone in an attacking quartet that contained the talents of Riko Ueki, Manuela Paví and goalscorer Viviane Asseyi in Sunday's 1-0 victory over Leicester City.

The Switzerland international has previously said it she thought it would take her time to adapt to the rigorous nature of England's top division, having joined the Hammers from FC Zürich in her homeland this summer - a league where players are only part-time.

However, since Piubel notched her first goal in West Ham colours against Portsmouth in the Women's League Cup in early October, the 24-year-old's performances have gone from strength to strength.

She says that she feels much more comfortable and up to speed with life in English football and was delighted to help the team to victory on Sunday.

”It's an amazing feeling to get our first league win of the season,” Piubel told whufc.com. "I'm really proud of the team. We had a great team performance and worked really hard for one another. We worked a lot this week on the details that we thought we would need to come away with a win from this game, and I'm so happy that we were able to do so.

“It was a tough match, of course, every match in this league is a challenge. This win was incredibly important for us, particularly after some of the other results around us today.

“The fans were amazing and helped us to keep the pace of the game up. It felt like we had a lot of people here today and I'm pleased we were able to get the win for them too.”

We enjoy today because it's really big for us to get our first win

Rehanne Skinner's side have adopted an attacking formation during their win on Sunday and their narrow defeat at Tottenham which has seen Piubel operate in the No10 position, behind hard-working centre-forward Ueki.

Piubel is more than familiar with playing in the position, and is enjoying the opportunity to showcase her skills in a central area and is hoping that the team can produce another good performance against Brighton & Hove Albion next weekend.

”I like to play very much in this formation,” she explained. ”I have a lot of experience and have played for a lot of years in the middle, being able to help the attackers and defensively too.

”For me personally, I feel as though I'm now in a place where I'm much more used to the speed of the game and the demands of the league. It has taken me a little bit of time, but I feel as though I'm making much more of an impact for the team now.

”We enjoy today because it's really big for us to get our first win, but then we have to get back to work at the training ground and prepare for a tough game against Brighton on Saturday.”
