West Ham United made the trip to Germany to face Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen in their final pre-season test on Saturday.
With the 2023/24 Premier League season kicking off next weekend, away to AFC Bournemouth, David Moyes and his coaching staff took the opportunity to put the Hammers through their paces for the final time this summer.
The Irons went up against a Leverkusen team who are managed by former Liverpool and Real Madrid midfielder Xabi Alonso, and it was the hosts who took the early lead thanks to Jonas Hofmann's free-kick.
Leverkusen added a second on 24 minutes when Amine Adli combined well with Hofmann, with the winger playing a low cross that Thilo Kehrer could only turn into his own net.
Victor Boniface netted a third on 38 minutes for Leverkusen with a powerful finish across goal, striking sweetly from Florian Wirtz's lobbed pass.
A change in formation at half-time gave West Ham an added impetus, with Said Benrahma striking the base of the woodwork, but Leverkusen would find a fourth through substitute Robert Andrich's penalty.
