Nayef Aguerd playing for Morocco

Nayef Aguerd called up for Morocco's September internationals

Nayef Aguerd has been named in the Morocco squad for the upcoming September international fixtures.

The centre-back has been called up to the Atlas Lions for the forthcoming 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifier against Liberia before facing Burkina Faso in a friendly fixture.

Aguerd and his international teammates will take on Liberia on Saturday 9 September at Stade Adrar in Agadir. Kick-off is set for 8pm BST (8pm WEST) in the African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Morocco's qualification for the final tournament has already been secured, with six points earned from three games played in Group K. Zimbabwe's disqualification from international sport means they are no longer involved in the group, meaning the Atlas Lions sit five points ahead of their September opponents with one game left to play.

Walid Regragui's side will then contest a friendly fixture against Burkina Faso a few days later, on Tuesday 12 September, at the Stade Bollaert-Delelis in Lens, France. Kick-off is set for 7.30pm BST (8.30pm BEST).

Aguerd has earned 34 caps for Morocco since making his debut in August 2016. The defender earned his first appearance on 31 August 2016 - exactly seven years ago today - in a 0-0 draw with Albania.
