First game you watched live as a supporter?
As a kid, we didn’t really get the opportunity to go to the stadiums to watch games. I remember the Mexico game against France at the 2010 World Cup that we won with Javier ‘Chicharito’ Hernández opening the scoring. I watched it at home with my parents.
First football hero?
I really liked Ronaldinho. With my brother, I would watch clips of him, his plays, and all the outrageous things he’d do on the pitch. He was our idol.
First football boots?
I remember from the film ‘Goal!’, Santiago Muñez had white Adidas F50s. I absolutely loved that film, so my Dad got me those boots. I would sleep with them at night. It’s a great memory because my Dad knew what they meant to me.
First kit?
I think it was a shirt and shorts combination of the Mexico national team.
First mentor in football?
My Dad and my brother were my mentors, and they still are.
First professional game?
It was a Copa MX game for Club América in August 2016, when I was still just 18 years old. We played away to Mineros de Zacatecas. I was on the bench, and 30-odd minutes in, the starting central midfielder Bruno Valdez got injured, and that’s how my first opportunity came. I entered the game and felt good. That was the game that kickstarted my career. We also won 2-0, but went on and lost in the semi-finals on penalties to Chivas!
First professional goal?
It actually came in a final! In the 100th year of Club América’s history, we played Tigres in the play-off final on Boxing Day 2016. With the scores level in extra time of the second leg, I scored the goal that put us ahead. Unfortunately, we ended up losing that game on penalties, too.
First red card?
The first was against Lobos in August 2017. I’m an aggressive player, and I always try to battle for every ball at 100 per cent, but never with malicious intentions. Normally it’s because of an accumulation of bookings that I have been sent-off.
