March’s Barclays Women’s Super League Player of the Month discusses some of her favourite things, from food to holidays to other sports!

I’d say WhatsApp, I use it for video calling a lot.

Holiday destination

I’m not really the person who needs holidays! I’m always happy to stay at home and enjoy the time with my family. My favourite place in Germany is home. I’m from Fulda, which is pretty central.

Other sport to watch

I like basketball, I have a lot of friends who play it. My best friend and I like to play it together. I don’t watch it loads, I just support my friends and their teams.

Teammate

I would say my fellow German speakers. Verena (Hanshaw, who played with Martinez at Eintracht Frankfurt in the Frauen-Bundesliga), because I’ve known her for such a long time now, and there’s also Seraina [Piubel] and Amber [Tysiak] who speak German as well!

I’m also really close with Princess [Ademiluyi], because when I came here, she was the first one who invited me to everything. So Princess is at the top!

Ground to play at

I may not have played there in the end, but I was in the squad for a game at the Allianz Arena, when I was in Germany. It was a really nice stadium and an amazing experience.

Match you’ve been to watch

When I was at Frankfurt, we went to watch the Frankfurt men’s team against Barcelona in the UEFA Europa League in April 2022. It was at the Camp Nou, which was massive, and Frankfurt won! It was an amazing game.

Match you’ve played in

I’d say that every Champions League game I’ve played in was really special. Also, although it wasn’t the best game, making my Barclays Women’s Super League debut for West Ham against Chelsea was a proud moment. But then obviously, scoring two goals against them at Kingsmeadow in March was a very special moment for me as well.

Meal

I love lasagne. I can eat it at any time. But I only like the lasagne that my girlfriend makes! So I don’t like to try any others, because she knows how to make it the best.
