More Hammers return to Rush Green

The second group of West Ham United first team players have returned to the Club’s Rush Green Training Ground to begin their 2023/24 pre-season schedule.

Eleven days after the first batch of Hammers returned from their off-season holidays to start preparations for the new campaign, a number of the players involved in international fixtures throughout June underwent their first day screens and scans with the Club’s medical team.

While their teammates participate in the pre-season tour of Australia and prepare for Tuesday’s fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, the likes of Alphonse Areola, Czech pair Vladimír Coufal and Tomáš Souček, playmaker Saïd Benrahma, German defender Thilo Kehrer and Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd filled the training ground with stories of their trips abroad and time away while participating in their tests.

Much like the first day back for the other Hammers, those involved on Monday underwent cardiac checks, concussion tests, and a general physiotherapy screening before getting down to work in the gym.

After lunch, the players took to the pitches at Rush Green for a first training session of the 2023/24 campaign; one that will once again see West Ham compete in European competition, after glory in the UEFA Europa Conference League final last month secured a seeded place in the UEFA Europa League group stages.

With first team manager David Moyes and his coaching staff Down Under, the returning internationals linked up with U21s lead coach Mark Robson on the Rush Green training pitches.

Our Club photographer was on hand to capture Monday’s testing, and you can view all the action in the gallery above.
